Pollock has an extensive background in the waste management field, with over 35 years of experience, both as a consultant and as a director of municipal waste management services.

Before becoming a consultant, he was the director of waste management services at Niagara Region and Peel Region and was the director of waste policy and planning at the City of Toronto.

More recently, he provided consulting services to all levels of government and to industry associations related to producer responsibility programs and waste diversion policy.

On August 15, 2019, the Honourable Jeff Yurek, Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks directed the Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority (RPRA) and Stewardship Ontario (SO) to, amongst other things, develop a plan to windup the existing Blue Box Program Plan (BBPP) and the CIF as soon as practical and by no later than December 31, 2025.

“I am looking forward to guiding CIF through its windup phase and assisting communities with the transition to producer-led responsibility,” Pollock said.
