Staff changes at Circular Innovation Council

The Circular Innovation Council has made several new appointments.

Katie Motta has been appointed circular procurement director. She leads the Circular Procurement portfolio, including Procure4Circular communities of practice, alongside training and advisory services. She previously led the award-winning Commercial Food Rescue and Waste Diversion pilot projects in Ontario and Alberta at CIC.

Andrew Telfer has joined the team as Circular Innovation Launchpad (COIL) director. He brings 15-plus years of Canadian business sustainability and circularity experience with him. Telfer joins from the now closed Smart Cities Office at City of Guelph where he was involved in both Our Food Future and COIL circular economy building initiatives.

Alexia Petit has been hired as Ottawa reuse pilot coordinator. Petit specializes in the circular economy, focusing particularly on plastic waste. With previous experience as a circular economy project manager for the Paris Region in France, she led the development and implementation of policies aimed at diminishing plastic waste by expanding local reuse and recycling projects. In her current position at CIC, she provides on-the-ground support to pilot locations, coordinating communication efforts, and facilitating the onboarding process for new businesses.

Valentina Adelola is the new co-op communications assistant. Adelola is a student at the University of Waterloo going into her fourth year of science and business. She will be joining us for her 3rd co-op term assisting with the communications for CIC.
